Footloose is Coming to Mowat

The musical is returning to Mowat, as the music and drama departments come together to bring you the smash hit musical “Footloose”. After widespread success as a movie in 1984 and more recently in 2011, “Footloose the Musical” has taken stages around the world by storm.

This is the story about a young man named Ren, who along with his mother, moves from Chicago to a small farming town. Ren prepares to adjust to his new surroundings, but he isn’t prepared for the ban on dancing that the town enforces on it’s young people, strongly enforced by the town’s preacher. When the preacher’s daughter sets her sights on Ren, her boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation and many of the locals are eager to believe the worst about the new kid in town.

With a cast of 50 students, 30 crew members working behind the scenes and a live rock and roll band comprising of 10 musicians you will want to get up to dance and sing along to the hit’s from the 80’s.
